The United Way of Lee County recognizes and denounces the racism, inequality, discrimination and inequitable systems that exist, persist and perpetuate the community disparities that we fight to heal every day.
Equality is the foundation of our mission. UWLC commits to continuing to provide resources, support, connection and a safe haven to historically oppressed and marginalized people and provide opportunities that empower families and build better communities. We advocate for fairness and justice and are dedicated to joining with other community leaders and agencies to challenge discriminatory systems and practices in our community.
We commit to equity as a core value with an ongoing pledge to diversity and inclusion that is reflected in our organizational culture, values and behaviors. We acknowledge that we can only be successful if we continually evaluate our own practices and recognize, encourage and support others in doing the same. United Way is committed to engaging underrepresented leaders as partners, donors and volunteers and intentionally creating pathways for them to be included in decision-making roles within our own and other organizations
